Sunday 17th September 2023

Stowmarket. Stowmarket. Stowmarket.

Sunday 17th September 2023 saw us celebrate the culmination of nearly seven years work to augment our 20cwt eight to a 19cwt ten. In 2017 we began fund raising with a jumble sale run by the mother of one of our one time ringers. Since then, several more jumble sales, a huge plant sale on a May Bank Holiday, quizzes and bingo evenings, half a dozen grant applications including the Heritage Lottery Fund, a mystery murder evening, a talk on first world war advertising combined with expertly cooked sausage and mash have lead to us raising a whopping £179,000 to achieve our aim.

Without the help of all our volunteers we would not be in this fortunate position, well over 3000 hours of volunteer time have been accumulated through fundraising, catering, and more recently building the frame and putting the bells in place, no easy task in all that hot weather we had in June and early July. Thank you to all those members of the BAC and others who gave so generously of their time towards our project.

We were very pleased to invite many of those involved to share High Tea with us on 17th September, it was a great to see you all and we even managed Grandsire Caters and a good lower at the end of the afternoon.
